The Pencil
A very good pencil skirt is one of those staples I like to hang a lot of in my closet. And I am loving this particular one. It has a very flattering true waist and I have built in a step for altering your skirt before you finish it so you can be confidant to make your perfect staple that hugs just your curves. I LOVE wearing this skirt.
From cut to hem I think this skirt needs about 3 hours for the first make. If you are a beginning sewist, please be sure to be patient with yourself and allow your first one to be endearingly imperfect. And give yourself room to make ‘learning opportunities.’ I promise, you will want 10 of these and they get easier every time you make one! This skirt is absolutely right for a beginning sewist just out of the new basics beginner’s sewing series, and it is refined enough in its fit to please an experienced tailor.
This is a pdf pattern designed to print in black and white on your home computer. Be sure to print to ‘actual size’ and check your scale box before you print the entire pattern.
This pattern is graded for size xs - 3x.
Sizes:
xs: 34/26/34 - s: 36/28/38 - m: 38.5/30.5/40.5 - l: 42/34/44 - xl: 46/39/50 - 2x: 50/43/54

I hope you enjoy your pencil skirt as much as I love mine! Please tag @commonsewing #commonsewing and #thepencilpattern with your makes. Happy Sewing!
